You Breast Implant Choices
For your breast augmentation in Nashville, TN, you will have the opportunity to create a customized look that reflects your personal aesthetic goals by choosing from various breast implant options. Dr. Fisher will discuss each of these important choices in detail, including:
Saline vs. Silicone
Dr. Fisher offers both silicone and saline FDA-approved breast implants. Saline implants are filled with a saltwater solution and are filled at the time of surgery for customized results. Since saline can be absorbed safely without any negative effects on the body, this implant type poses no health risks if ruptured.
Silicone implants are the most popular choice among Dr. Fisher's patients. The newest silicone implants are considered high-strength and form-stable, meaning that if they are damaged or ruptured, they will retain their shape and be less likely to leak silicone. Women who choose silicone implants often say that they feel very similar to natural breasts.
Breast implant volume is measured in cubic centimeters rather than bra cup sizes. Implants can range greatly in size. The majority of women choose breast implants between 250cc and 400cc, however, your choice may be different. Dr. Fisher will thoroughly explain how implant size and factors, such as the ratio of breast tissue to fat, which will affect your final breast appearance.
Breast implant profiles determine your breast projection and are usually available in high, moderate, and low profiles. High profiles have a narrower base diameter and offer the most breast projection. They are usually recommended for women with a slender frame and smaller chest width. Women who want less projection or who have a normal or wide chest width may benefit from moderate to low profile implants.
Your breast implants can be round or anatomically shaped. Round implants are very popular because they provide the greatest look of cleavage and fill out the upper portion of the breast. Anatomical implants are shaped like a teardrop and are meant to resemble natural breasts, with more volume at the bottom of the breast. Choosing the right shape for you will largely depend on your cosmetic goals.
Smooth vs. Textured
All breast implants are made of an outer silicone shell that can be either smooth or textured. Women who choose anatomical implants will automatically have a textured shell, since the rough surface keeps the implant from rotating and distorting shape within the breast pocket. Round implants can be smooth or textured, but the smooth shell variety is most widely used. Dr. Fisher will discuss the benefits of each during your one-on-one consultation.
