As an established breast surgery specialist, Dr. Jack Fisher regularly consults with women who are frustrated by sagging breasts. Whether your problem stems from pregnancy, nursing, weight changes or gravity, your breasts are likely to lose shape and firmness with age. In these cases, Dr. Fisher will often recommend a breast lift for his Nashville patients. Choosing Breast Lift from Dr. Fisher
During your initial consultation, Dr. Fisher will talk to you about what your expectations are for the surgery. He will take the time to answer any questions as well as discuss the procedure in detail with you. You should also be prepared to discuss your medical history as that will factor into whether the procedure is right for you. You should plan on spending about an hour at the consultation.
Benefits of this procedure include:
- Restoring a firm, youthful breast shape
- Reducing enlarged nipples and areolas
- Balancing breasts that hang unevenly
If you also would like your breasts to be fuller, Dr. Fisher may suggest a combination breast lift with implants. In some cases women with minimal sagging who want to increase their breast size can attain the lifted, fuller improvements they want with breast augmentation alone.
Dr. Fisher can use several methods for breast lift surgery depending on the type and degree of correction needed. The lollipop incision, often used to correct moderate sagging, is placed along the outside edge of the areola and then straight down to the breast crease. The anchor incision is often combined with a breast reduction. This technique is similar to the lollipop incision, but includes an additional horizontal incision along the breast crease. Dr. Fisher will explain each technique during your appointment and give his expert opinion about which one is right for you.
Your Surgery & Recovery
Prior to your breast lift surgery, Dr. Fisher will give you pre-operative and post-operative instructions to follow. To be prepared for surgery and make the recovery process easier, we suggest you follow these instructions closely. Dr. Fisher performs the breast lift procedure on an outpatient basis using general anesthesia, which means you will sleep during the surgery. A breast lift takes approximately 2 to 3 hours to complete.
You will see Dr. Fisher about a week after your procedure to have your stitches removed. The recovery period typically takes 2 to 3 weeks, during which time you will need to wear a supportive bra and limit your physical activity. Dr. Fisher also requires that you avoid heavy lifting and raising your arms above your shoulders for 2 weeks. To make your recovery process smooth, remember to closely follow Dr. Fisher's post-operative instructions.
Women appreciate breast lift surgery because their breasts will be shapelier right away. While scars cannot be avoided, Dr. Fisher minimizes the length and number of incisions he uses. Within the first year, most scars fade and are barely noticeable.
