Brow Lift Surgery

For those with forehead creases, drooping eyebrows, a furrowed brow and frown lines, the solution may be a brow lift. Nashville, TN plastic surgeon Dr. Jack Fisher specializes in this facial rejuvenation surgery, which removes excess skin and alters muscles in the forehead. The outcome is a more relaxed and youthful appearance. Dr. Fisher may recommend the brow lift be done in conjunction with additional facial rejuvenation surgeries to achieve a more harmonious facial appearance.

Choosing Brow Lift from Dr. Fisher

When evaluating candidates for browlift at his Nashville, TN practice, Dr. Fisher likes patients to be in relatively good health and have realistic expectations about what a forehead lift can accomplish. Brow lift patients generally exhibit one or more of the following characteristics:

  • A sagging or low position of the eyebrow
  • A deep, horizontal crease across your forehead
  • Frown lines
  • Furrows between the eyebrows

Some patients, particularly with sagging and wrinkles of the upper and lower lids, may actually be better suited for eyelid surgery, also called blepharoplasty. Nashville plastic surgeon Dr. Fisher will help you to determine this at your consultation.

During your consultation, Dr. Fisher will talk to you about what you hope to achieve from the brow lift. He will answer any questions you have as well as discuss the procedure in detail. He will then conduct an examination to determine if the forehead/brow surgery would be right for you. Dr. Fisher can then review the brow lift method he recommends, recovery time, and associated risks. You should plan to spend about one hour with Dr. Fisher during your consultation.

Your Surgery & Recovery

Dr. Fisher will give you preoperative and postoperative instructions to follow. It is imperative that you follow these directions to be prepared for your surgery and make your recovery process smoother. The brow lift surgery is done on an outpatient basis and takes approximately 2 hours to complete. You will be under a general anesthetic which means you will be asleep for the procedure.

The incisions of your brow lift are usually concealed within your hairline. You will experience some tightness for 1 to 2 weeks after the surgery. Your eyebrows may initially seem to be slightly over-elevated but this will correct itself within 1 to 2 weeks. If you have problems or questions after the surgery, do not hesitate to call Dr. Fisher to discuss in detail.
