Nashville Tummy Tuck

After pregnancies or dramatic weight loss, you may experience sagging, loose skin which does not respond to diet and exercise. A Tummy Tuck, or Abdominoplasty, can remove your excess fat and skin, giving your abdomen a new, thinner look. When Dr. Fisher performs a tummy tuck, he tries to give your body a contoured fit for your frame and size. When the tummy tuck procedure is done by a skilled, experienced surgeon like Dr. Fisher, your skin can be restored to a more natural appearance.

The best candidates for the Abdominoplasty procedure are in fairly good shape but have loose abdominal skin that does not respond to diet or exercise. Dr. Fisher also believes prospective patients need to be realistic about what can be accomplished. If you are considering having more children in the future or want to lose more weight, you may want to wait before coming in for a consultation with Dr. Fisher.

Your Consultation

During your initial tummy tuck consultation, Dr. Fisher will spend as much time as necessary to make sure you are comfortable with the procedure. He will perform a thorough examination of your abdomen and let you know what he thinks will be possible. In some cases, patients who think they need a tummy tuck are better candidates for the liposuction procedure. The only way to know if the procedure is right for you is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Fisher.

Your Surgery

Most tummy tuck procedures are done on an outpatient basis under a general anesthesia. The procedure can take anywhere from 2-3 hours to complete but could vary depending on your needs. Prior to your tummy tuck, Dr. Fisher will give you a pre operative and post operative instructions to follow. To be prepared for your tummy tuck and make your recovery process easier, we suggest you follow these instructions closely. Should you have any questions, make sure to contact the office immediately.

Your Recovery

The amount of time you will need to recover from your tummy tuck will vary based on the extent of the surgery. You will be up and walking the day after surgery and should be able to resume limited activities after one week. Full recovery may take up to 4 weeks. Dr. Fisher will cover the recovery process in detail with you prior to your surgery.
